NIFAST is a national association comprised of certified fire safety professionals, founded and operated by fire safety industry leaders. Organized to dramatically improve fire safety standards and results, NIFAST is currently implementing the following four core competency areas and programs:
NIFAST Home Inspectors Program
Our active membership of certified inspectors provide fire safety inspections in the residential and commercial space. These inspections are bridging the gap between current regulatory code, and what “should” be included in an inspection in order to make dwellings truly fire safe.
NIFAST Home Occupancy Program
At the core of our program is the education and knowledge that NIFAST believes is the key to safer lives: our home occupancy training program. This program is intended to train and test all home occupants on fire safety and awareness, and bring a higher level of understanding of what is involved in order to prevent, and more importantly, survive a fire. NIFAST for Campus Living
One of the intended purposes on which NIFAST was founded, was to help educate and train college students in both on and off-campus fire prevention situations. Our training and curriculum in the campus environment allows us to educate an entire student populous on fire safety, or smaller groups most affected by off-campus fires (apartment tenants, Panhellenic / Greek organizations, etc…)
NIFAST Training and Testing
Our online training and testing program is the easiest way to become NIFAST certified. We also offer on-site fire safety training, and customized training course materials to enhance or replace your organization's existing fire training. All NIFAST training courses are OSHA compliant and conform to NIFAST's standards and guidelines.

Of all fire fatalities, 81% occur in a residential setting. Sadly, because of apathy, poor planning, and lack of training, many have lost their lives in residential fires that could have been prevented. Knowledge and training is the key to preventing individuals from becoming statistics.
With life’s hectic pace today, it’s no surprise that fire and burn safety precautions are overlooked. Everyone is plenty busy, with little time to devote to safety activities. Yet, the knowledge and fire safety training necessary to increase your family’s fire safety profile is essential, and education is key to fire safety. Children learn at a young age, typically in a playground setting, about Sparky the Dog and/or Smokey the Bear. Evacuation procedures, safe kitchen grease fire techniques, and basic smoke inhalation issues are never addressed. The knowledge and training obtained through NIFAST’s homeowners’ program is now readily available and easy to acquire for busy families – especially those with children. The time is now to educate your household and prepare.
For the first time NIFAST presents a simple, common sense approach that teaches in-depth residential fire and burn safety through an easy-to-use, self-paced online presentation, coupled with feedback oriented testing and certification. Course materials are provided online where individuals can read and review at their own pace. The course is interactive – you can ask questions and receive answers or clarification as you read each section. Testing for adults and children, scientific answer compilation, and appropriate feedback to each test taker ensures a thorough understanding of the material.
The result is increased safety awareness, lower risk of fire-related injury, and fewer fire fatalities. Utilizing this program demonstrates your commitment to your family’s safety, and your own! Now you have the tools to educate your family, and help prevent needless tragedy.

Fire Safety and Training
The NIFAST organization offers a multitude of training and testing opportunities for fire safety training and education in the residential and commercial population. Through our forty years of service in the fire protection industry, and with our relevant team of expert service providers, we offer OSHA compliant training courses and customized classroom and on-site training to replace/enhance your existing fire-safe practices.
Our classroom and on-site certification programs are offered in a variety of formats, each tailored to a particular fire safety category or common circumstance. Our request for on-site training range from proper fire extinguisher use to train-the-trainer programs.
Our NIFAST certification programs are the gold standard in the fire protection industry. NIFAST combines modern training methods into easily understandable coursework and subsequent testing, that exceed the recommendations of NFPA and all government guidelines.
